Heads Held High

We want the pain to go away. The tears, the sleepless nights, the empty feelings of not knowing. Instead of being swallowed by darkness, we want the sun to poke its way through the clouds, giving us guiding light once again. We turn our heads up to sky...watching, waiting...for some small miracle to be felt, tingling from our skin to our very cores.

Silence...

We slowly bow our heads in realization that we aren't in control. Our lives are being guided. The pain, though constant for now, is only a test, and will not last forever. We will not die from it. Soon, things will change...

We will once again raise our heads to the sky, seeing the small speck of light through the clouds as hope. Soon, the darkness will begin to fade, and may even disappear altogether. Though the darkness is persistently coiling itself around us like an unruly serpent, an atrocious haze attempting to engulf the world, we will prevail. We mustn't lose our faith. That is key...
